KITCHENDESIGN

My preferred design's procedure is to first have an in-depth discussion with my client. I need to understand how they cook and what food. Will they be cooking only for a small family or do they love entertaining large group of friends at any given time? Specific appliance brand? Colour and/or texture preference? Home style? Etc...

Designs were prepared within 3-5 working days, and were discussed in-house. Material samples with the help of 3D renders were the only elements I used during the presentation. I believe, however, that clients expected the perfect kitchen at the first meeting, which is not the case.

AN interactive discussion regarding the first proposal is required to develop the design into something they truly will love.

Everything is worth the wait with a cup of coffee.

Bathrooms and Kitchens are the two most important spaces within a home. Take care with every detail : be it functionally, aesthetically - or a maintenance related choice.

Retired couple renovating their home, with the kitchen being the last piece of the puzzle. Amazing client to work with. Very interactive during our design discussions. The original design with the curve - was not restricted via a budget. The space required something different and that was it. Due to budget constraints, the curve had to be lost - and to provide some colour differentiation, we decided on a darker top and a wood look splash back.

Renovating their home for 20 years, on a plot near Boschkop. The brief contains enclosed cabinetry - which in turn provides a fresh modern atmosphere, as well as complimenting the old characteristics of the existing property.

1) After our discussion, they wanted the space to open up a lot more. They are considering large renovation works - if I can assist in convincing them of its value in the long run. They are planning to live here for 20years more. The budget originally given was R150-R200k.

They are in no rush - as it is a lot of money and they want the project management be done 'prefectly'.

Construction has begun. Client seems confident with what they want - and I have achieved it with the final design.

Our showroom display kitchens were for sale, due to a renovation planned for 2017. The Evangeliou's loved the light oak look, and within 3 days I had two proposals - displaying different visuals- where the oven columns where tweaked into base units. It was extremely exciting, being able to create different kitchen layouts with exactly the same cabinetry.

The deal did not go through, but I enjoyed designing it.

Have not yet started construction. The proposed design is purely basic - using only the mentioned preferences on the clients first visit. Thus, for when a meeting is arranged, a document has been formulated to assist in identifying what the client wants. Option two is a more cost effective option.

Have been informed that the construction progress is as far as tiling. I have not seen the site, and was only presented the plan. The implications would be the uncertainty of window placements (heights,) as well as the provided connections (water and electrical,) which will restrict the desired design. Feedback still unknown.

Brief was for something white, with a marble look. Texture acceptable, and a bar fridge on the island. No seating.

Client bought his kitchen in 2008, and wanted a patio set to accommodate that design. Client provided X x Y x H dimensions - allowing me to design this.

The construction reached the second floor when they requested for a design. This restricted the placement of the prep bowl as well as the wall next to the fridge. I had the opportunity to also design the wardrobes and a kitchenette. In the end, they would've only taken the kitchen.

I enjoyed the intimacy of getting to know the client. TO understand how to do their daily routines - and to make it easier for them. I especially enjoyed being able to test the designing programme - and to see how far one can customise a kitchen.

Renovation of the new home. The client wanted something strict traditional and country style. However, our particular range which falls under the correct category, was out of their price range. I tried to sway them to a more subtle approach towards traditional with a modern tone. But alas, they informed me they went with another company's design.

It is a difficult concept to convey - quality above quantity. As professionals, one's advice is merely that - advice.
